These terms govern your use of Catan8 at wancatan.com ("the Service"). By creating an account or playing a game, you agree to these terms.
The Service
Catan8 is a free, browser-based multiplayer board game. We provide the platform as-is and may modify, suspend, or discontinue it at any time without notice.
Accounts
You must provide a valid email address to register. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One account per person — multi-accounting to manipulate rankings or gameplay is prohibited.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use bots, scripts, or automation to play or manipulate games
- Exploit bugs or glitches for unfair advantage (report them instead)
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other players in chat
- Intentionally stall games or abandon matches repeatedly
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or attack the platform
We may suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these rules at our sole discretion.
Intellectual Property
Catan8 is an independent fan project. "Settlers of Catan" and "Catan" are trademarks of Catan GmbH. Catan8 is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Catan GmbH. The Catan8 codebase, interface design, and original content are our intellectual property.
User Content
Display names and chat messages you create are visible to other players. By using the chat feature, you grant us a license to display your messages to other players in the game session. We may moderate or remove content that violates our acceptable use policy.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that game sessions will complete without technical issues.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed $50.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for any reason. You may delete your account by emailing us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
